Classes of fire
1. CLASS A: Solid combustible material such as paper, wood, carpet, clothes,
etc….Smoke from this fire is generally white
2. CLASS B: Liquid
combustible materials such as fuel oil, grease, gasoline, alcohol, etc…..Smokefrom this fire is generally dark.
3. CLASS C: Energized
electrical equipment such as computers, pumps, televisions, etc…From thisfire you may see sparks.
4. CLASS D: Involves
Combustible metals such as aluminum, sodium, potassium and titanium.
5. CLASS F: Involves
vegetable oils, animal’s oils or fat in cooking appliances…such as deep fat fryers.
Fire Extinguishers
1. DRY CHEMICAL: Recognizable by the shape of its nozzle, it is very small - To be used on “A-B-C” Class of Fire
2. CO2 (Carbon Dioxide): Recognizable
by the shape of its nozzle, it is much bigger than the other - To be used on “B-C” Class of Fire
3. WET CHEMICAL: Recognizable by the fact that it will be shape of its nozzle,
it is much bigger than the other and it is the best application for the deep fat fryers - To be used
on “F”
